Anti-TAF15 (AB2) polyclonal antibody is used to tag TAF15 RNA polymerase II, TATA box binding protein (TBP)-associated factor, 68 kDa for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the roles of TAF15 RNA polymerase II, TATA box binding protein (TBP)-associated factor, 68 kDa in RNA polymerase II transcription and early RNA processing.

Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires the activities of more than 70 polypeptides. The protein that coordinates these activities is transcription factor IID (TFIID), which binds to the core promoter to position the polymerase properly, serves as the scaffold for assembly of the remainder of the transcription complex, and acts as a channel for regulatory signals. TFIID is composed of the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and a group of evolutionarily conserved proteins known as TBP-associated factors or TAFs. TAFs may participate in basal transcription, serve as coactivators, function in promoter recognition or modify general transcription factors (GTFs) to facilitate complex assembly and transcription initiation. TAF15 encodes a subunit of TFIID present in a subset of TFIID complexes. TAF15 RNA polymerase II, TATA box binding protein (TBP)-associated factor, 68 kDa (TAF15, Np13, TAF2N, TAF1168, RBP56) is a subunit of transcription factor IID (TFIID) present in a subset of TFIID complexes which coordinates the activities associated with transcription by RNA polymerase II. TAF15 is known to associate with spliceosomal U1 snRNP complex potentially linking transcription with RNA processing.
