It plays a crucial role in the phosphoinositide metabolism by hydrolyzing phosphatidylinositol-4, 5-bisphosphate to inositol 1, 4, 5 trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol. It has been studied that PLCD1 also possess tumor suppressive property in gastric cancer and breast cancer. Mutations in PLCD1 gene have been linked to a rare nail disorder, hereditary leukonychia. |
