Homeobox protein aristaless-like 3 [Mus musculus] (ALX3) is found in pancreatic islets, the β-cell line MIN6, and glucogon- and somatostatin-expressing cells. ALX3 is involved in glucose homeostasis, regulation of insulin expression and prevention of apoptosis.

Anti-homeobox protein aristaless-like 3 (ALX3) polyclonal antibody is used to tag homeobox protein aristaless-like 3 proteins for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in cells and tissues by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to study the role of ALX3 in pancreatic islet function and insulin expression.

Mouse Alx3 is a homeobox gene that is related to the Drosophila aristaless gene and to a group of vertebrate genes including Prx1, Prx2, Cart1, and Alx4. The protein encoded contains a diverged variant of a conserved peptide sequence present near the carboxyl terminus of at least 15 different paired-class-homeodomain proteins. Alx3 is expressed in mouse embryos from 8 days of gestation onward in a characteristic pattern, predominantly in neural crest-derived mesenchyme and in lateral plate mesoderm.
