| General description【一般描述】 | ADFP (adipose differentiation-related protein) is a mammalian lipid droplet protein, which coats lipid droplet surfaces. It is however absent from mature white adipocytes. It is also called perilipin 2 (PLIN2), and is a member of the PAT (perilipin, adipophilin, and the tail-interacting protein 47kDa) family of proteins, which includes five members. It has a predominant expression in skeletal muscles, in type I fibres. |

| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Adipose differentiation-related protein (ADFP) plays a novel role in the regulation of macrophage autophagy during lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. ADFP is the most abundant lipid droplet (LD)-associated protein found in non-adipose tissue and its expression correlates with intracellular lipid accumulation. Its polymorphism may affect its function and influence the development of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. It has been observed that prolonged endurance-type exercise training increases the expression of ADFP leading to increases in intramuscular triglyceride (IMTG) content in a type I muscle fiber-type specific manner in type 2 diabetes patients. |
