Phosphatidylinositol plays a key role in neural transmission by acting as a secondary messenger precursor. Phosphatidylethanolamine participates in membrane fusion events. The biocompatible and amphiphilic functionality of phospholipids enable them to be a perfect drug delivery system. They are used in generation of the liposomes for carrying drugs. Phospholipids possess hydrophilic colloid property. |
