ALF (TFIIA-α and β-like factor) is highly expressed in adult testis, and is located in the spermatid nuclei and annulus of spermatozoa. It is also called as GTF2A1L (General transcription factor IIA 1-like factor).

ALF (TFIIA-α and β-like factor) is a germ cell-specific subunit of transcription factor TFIIA is important for testis biology and spermatogenesis. Abnormal expression of GTF2A1L gene might have a role in male infertility. ALF expression is regulated by methylation pattern of the ALF promoter.
