Tetraamminepalladium(II) chloride monohydrate is used to prepare trans-diamminedichloropalladium(II). It is also utilized in the preparation of mesoporous carbon supporting palladium nanoparticles by using graphite oxide. It is used as catalysts, reagents, and analytical reagents.

Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Solutions undergo decomposition at high temperatures.
